Law of Attraction for Groups

Hello! I have been on vacation for much of the last two weeks, so that is a partial explanation for my delay in entering any posts here. During our vacation, Beverly and I spent some time on the shore of Delaware with our great friends Bill and Dayna. Bill is a wonderful person except that sometimes (usually) he overserves me wine.

During one of our discussions, Bill told me about the office he shares with 6-7 women. Apparently, they interact a great deal and occasionally that interaction is not conducive to a good environment. So on occasion, Bill has gone into his office, shut the door, then slammed a book down creating a resounding boom. Then he would go back to the common area, empty a big bag of candy or chocolate, and announce, “Candy break!”. Part of their business is education and training, so Bill has used his considerable skill with them to teach cooperation and other characteristics to promote a good work environment, but he admits that he hasn’t had much success.

He has said that when he arises each morning he sets his conscious intent that he will experience joy and success for the day. That is perfect, so I suggested to him that since he cannot change another’s behavior, only his own, that he should add some of the following intentions to his day:
"These women aren’t always bickering."
"Actually, they are good friends and support each other often."
"This really is a wonderful cooperative office where everyone gets along marvelously."

Of course, Bill needs to do this regularly and believe it in spite of what he may see at any moment. If so, I predict that he will see changes in the office and how his people interact. Not immediately, because there has been too much energy going the opposite direction. You can’t get a car to instantly stop on the freeway and turn around at the same speed. But he will notice some change pretty soon and the office will look much different in 60 days. He may be very surprised at some of the changes, too. For example, some may quit saying they just don’t like it there. Actually, what will be happening is that the energy in the office will improve and they are unable or not wanting to cope with the changes. Sadly, calm joy is just very foreign to some people. But don’t worry, because if his intent is a cooperative, efficient office, the perfect new employee will show up at his door.

Plagiarism time! I have often in these posts praised Abraham-Hicks work and stolen their words. I also have a link to their web site below. One of their recent daily inspirations was a perfect fit for Bill’s situation:

You don't have to worry about what their vibration is if your vibration is one of connection. Because if your vibration is one of connection -- you're going to dominate the vibration. This is the way you learn your relationships. The thing that most people do not understand, is that you get to control the way you feel, because you get to choose the thoughts you think. Most people think that they only have the option of responding to the circumstances that surround them. And that's what makes them attempt the impossible, which is to control the circumstances around them, which only feeds their feeling of frustration and vulnerability, because it doesn't take very much life experience to discover you can't control all of those circumstances. But you can control your vibration. And when you control your vibration, you've controlled everything that has anything to do with you.
Excerpted from a workshop in El Paso, TX on Thursday, March 28th, 2002

So, Bill……….. if you read this and if you apply any of these concepts plus related one’s you think of, please let us know how you are getting along. Anyone else as well. It’s easy to leave comments, anonymous or otherwise, to any posts. I would love to hear of others experiences and beliefs because we are all connected. Wonderfully and lovingly so.

OW, OW, OW - Amendment

In the last post I focused on the difficulty of dealing with pain and the Law of Attraction. I don't take any of that back, but there is another factor that should be discussed as well. Doctors, medical procedures, and prescriptions ( aka potions). My simple answer is to use them as you feel is appropriate for you. I can, and often, give the impression that you don't need doctors or potions because everything is energy, so if you focus on the energy, you can solve your problem. And in a completely theoretical way, that is true. But living in our world today, we are just learning the subtlies of energy and our old training and habits are really hard to drop.

So for the record... in dealing with my pain, I am, indeed, doing the steps I outlined in the previous post. But also, I started taking ibuprofin as soon as any pain started and to reduce the imflamation. Even if I am masking the pain, that is ok with me. Then I am not adding fuel to the proverbial fire. Also, I am seeing my chiropractor regularly - in fact every day this week - to get everything back in alignment. I might be proud about wanting my abilities to use the Law of Attraction effectively, but I'm not that proud. Just for the record.

Admitting all that is good for my soul and that also makes me feel better. Hope you feel better, too. You certainly deserve it. You are blessed, admired, appreciated, but most of all loved.

OW, OW, OW

Pain isn't fun. How's that for a profound statement! My motto is:"If it's not going to be fun, I'm not going to do it". But yet, somehow, pain enters my life and I have to deal with it. From other postings here, you can probably figure out that I believe that every experience in our lives are created by us, alone. Oh, you may catch the flu from your kid or someone where you work; or, maybe you are injured in a car accident that someone else causes. But I say that you brought those experiences into your life. Most likely not intentionally, but you did it nonetheless.

In February just after the big ice/snow storm, I slipped on icy steps. I caught myself and didn't fall, but in the process I pulled a muscle in my thigh and, apparently, rearranged other joints in my hips and lower back. Of course, I caused this. Not by simply slipping - that was the result. The cause was vibrational. It has to be - it always is. I'm still not sure why I did it, but I have some ideas. That's not my point today. The issue is what to do and be once it has happened. Damage control, as unemotional, detached managers like to say.

That is the tough part. No matter what I may be doing during the day, there is the constant "ow, ow, ow" calling me from my lower back. I have trouble sleeping with this so add to the concert: "Ow, tired, ow, ow, I'm sick of this". Regardless of how and why it happened, this is where I am right not. And I knowl that by my thoughts and emotions I bring my future experience into my life. Well, that sucks when I'm in pain. The pain doesn't let me ignore it, so that just brings more of the same for me, right? Yup. Right. This is where the Law of Attraction gets tough and it is a place where everyone gets sometimes - and some people never leave. Sometimes it gets so an individual so identifies with their pain that it becomes their life. I've got a dear friend who is amazingly creative with the illnesses and injuries she has attracted.

So how to proceed... There is always the miraculous recovery that we read about every now and then, but I don't know anything about that. Never worked for me. Oh, I'm certain they occur and there are excellent reasons for them, but I am not in that loop. What I am doing is this: #1, from Eckhart Tolle's book Power of Now, sit down alone and contemplate. I look at myself and admit that my body is injured and it hurts. My intent is to be the individual in pain, but at the same time, be the watcher. Recognize that I do have this, accept it as it is. Accept myself. ABSOLUTELY, with no judgement, no victimhood. On the contrary, with great self love. I can't describe the next step, it just happens. That meditation in itself lessens the pain. I don't know why. I dont' know how. It just does. The pain doesn't go away, but it does lessen and that is what I am looking for. Because lessened pain is the beginning of turning my thoughts and energy around, so that, first, I stop making it worse, and second, I begin healing.

Then, #2, I do my famous picture painting in my head. I see myself golfing with a full complete turn and a powerful release to a magnificent drive. I see myself taking a long bicycle ride, or even the wonderful tired release of having just completed a good strenuous exercise workout. I also tell myself that it doesn't always hurt as much as I think. It is getting better every day. This won't last forever.

There is another part, too. #3, I have active meditations where I see my body on a healing table and I am flooding it with pure white light. I am telling all the cells of my body to clean themselves and spit out all impurities and anything that shouldn't be there. I tell my arteries to clear out plaque (sorta roto-rooter themselves). I tell my bones to disolve the calcium and buildup that has accumulated. I tell all my organs to operate like a swiss watch ( sometimes I even stamp the word "Rolex" on my forehead). And, most certainly, when I am in pain, I focus particularly on the mechanics of healing that situation. Right now it is having all my vertebrae in alignment and the nerves clean and healthy.

When I am not doing any of the above steps and I am going about my normal life, my intent is to give as little attention to the pain as possible. Ignore it. Don't give it the satisfaction of controlling me. Now, that sounds good on paper, but there is some bullshit in that sentence. Lets face it, "ow, ow, ow" it tough to ignore. But at this point I don't have a magic pill to tell you about. What I need to do is exactly the things I mentioned above. I need to be dilligent and focused. I won't do those things perfectly, but everytime I am attempting them, I am not adding to the pain body. And, with time, it does indeed get better. And better. And better.

So, every day in every way, I am getting better and better. And I love the process, just as I love you.

It's All Energy

Everything in the Universe is energy. Everything. Secondly, energy vibrates at some level. All energies vibrate at different levels depending on what they are, but all do, indeed, vibrate. What do you get when you take a lot of energy and pack it together (scientific term there)? You get mass. So when you look around you, everything you see is really energy as a base. Trees, rocks, animals, you. And everything vibrates at some level. Even a rock, if you get small enough inside you see vibrational movement. I don't know the scientific words here, but this understanding is a given in the scientific/physics world.

What we want to do is learn how to control energy. Hasn't that always been our goal? And we've been good at it, too. Ever since we controlled fire with flint and then matches, that is controlling a type of energy. A prism separates colors of light which is another form of energy control. Through time we have gradually gotten smarter and found new ways to control energy to make our lives easier or better, and we have gotten pretty good at it with all of the machines we have created to control different types of energy. When we are first learning about a specific energy, usually our successes are blind luck. I can just imagine how early cavemen learned how to transport and then create fire. A lot of trial and error, such as finding out that water doesn't burn.

So where am I going with all of this? We are learning now that each of our thoughts are also energy and therefore each vibrates at a particular level. Previously, our successes were more blind luck in using the Law of Attraction, just like other attempts to control energy. There was always the mantra of "positive thinking", "think it and you can achieve it". And it worked! People would swear by the concept and write all kinds of books, e.g. Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich. It worked for some followers and didn't work for others. They just didn't think hard enough or positive enough was the answer.

Well, now we are getting smarter and figuring all of this out. We are learning to control energy to a level that we never previously thought possible. So why now? It's part of our evolution, like controling any other type of energy except this time we don't need machines or outside tools. This is all done within - choosing those things we wish to experience. It's always been around, we are just now figuring it all out and learning how to use it other than blind luck.
So consider that when you ponder and work with the Law of Attraction. Everything is energy and vibrates. Like energy attracts according to it's vibration. You are learning to control the vibration of your thoughts, that is, manipulating that energy, to get what you want. How you do that is the sum total of our study and all of the posts I have put here. Just remember to make it fun.

Watch out for the Gotcha's

One of the more confusing aspects of the Law of Attraction is the subtle difference between the negative not wanting of something and the positive wanting of the opposite. The most popular example is the attraction of money. Many people think the proper thought is, "I don't want to be poor" or "I want more money". That is a logical way to look at things, but it isn't quite right.

One key is that the Universe operates only in the present. There is no such thing as future or past. Secondly, the Universe loves you unconditionally and therefore gives you exactly what you want (be careful, here, and don't let your thoughts get ahead of me). From the Universe's perspective, nothing is good or bad, simply choices. We choose what we want to experience and on a soul level sometimes we truly wish to experience poverty or illness. And because of that, the Universe does not decide for you if something is right or not. Got that? Very important: The Universe does not discern. That is your job.

So, if the Universe loves you, but can only work in the present, how does it know what you want?... By your thoughts, words, and emotions. If you say "I don't want to be poor", what you are saying is that at the moment you are poor. The emotion of that statement is an unhappiness of lack of wealth. You are wallowing in the lack. The Universe thinks that what you are focusing on is what you want, so it says, "Yes, I love you! You want lack of money? Great, that is wonderful! I will give you what you want! I will give you lack of money!"

And the Universe, being the wonderful creative source that it is, will make your car break down or spring a leak in your water heater. Or if you have a whole lot of energy into the thought, you could lose your job. The Universe is very precise, so watch your phrasing and watch your emotions. It can't read your situation and give you what It considers is best for you. Understand that sentence? The number one Law is Free Will!!! If the universe decided for you and made your life easy, there would be no free will. And that will never happen. So it is your choice what you wish to experience: good or bad, hot or cold, fat or thin, happy or sad. Those are all value judgements and that is what we are here to do. Make those choices to live the lives we choose. So........................ If the Universe will give you what you want to experience, why not choose the easy way? It's much, much nicer. If you think Love and give Love, then you get Love. Try it. It works.

A Humorous Morality Story

Once upon a time, a man reached that stage in life when he pondered its meaning. Why did he continuously slave for material gain at a job he detested? Why was materialism rampent in society and in his home. Gradually, these questions captivated so much of his attention that all the people and things in his life were ignored and slowly melted away. He lost his job, then his wife. He alienated his children and friends, all in his study of and search for the meaning of life.

And so it was, that when he had lost all but the ragged clothes on his back, he heard of a most learned guru hidden in a mountainous cave in India. He vowed and struggled to get to the guru, and, ultimately, when he was broken, bloody, and near death, he crawled into the entrance of the cave and came upon the meditating presence of the Great Guru.

"Oh, Great Guru," he said, "please share with this humble seeker. What is the meaning of life?"

The Great Guru smiled warmly and gently spoke, "Life is a flower."

"WHAT?" the seeker shouted! "I have lost everything precious to me - wife, family, all posessions. Many times I was near death in my struggle to find you, and you tell me 'Life is a flower'?"

The Great Guru's eyes flew open in astonishment, and he said, "You mean it isn't?"

WARNING!!! Work to do!

I hate it when I have work to do. I'd much rather have fun, which I don't consider work to be (that's why they call it work, right?). But we also know it is very good for us, particularly when we define the work ourselves for ourselves. Well, that's where I'm going right now. It's good for you, like a vitamin pill or exercise.

I've been talking about Discernment for a few weeks now. I stress how very important it is, but the written word here can't really impress on you how crucial it is to your understanding how you are using the Law of Attraction right now (randomly and reactively) and how you should use the law (creatively and consciously). So I have an exercise for you to do. Total active time around 20 to 30 minutes. Can you spare that alone somewhere? Over coffee some morning or beer in the evening? Consider the drink or food to be the reward for the effort. Here is what you do:

#1: Set a timer for at least 10 minutes. 15 or 20 would be better. Take a full 8 1/2 x 11 pad of paper and start writing down your stream-of-consciousness thoughts. Most likely, the first sentence you write will be something like this: "What the hell am I doing this for I don't know what to write down or what to think and I've got to keep this shit up for another 9 1/2 minutes?" Well, you see where I'm going. Don't censor anything! If your mind goes to how much your butt itches, then put it down. No one other than you are ever going to read this anyway, and ultimately you'll be throwing it away, so say anything. Don't sweat punctuation or spelling - just get the thoughts down as they come, regardless.

#2: Get three markers: a yellow highlighter, another highlight color like pink or blue, and a black. Now, re-read what you have written and for each thought, judge for yourself what style each was. For happy or positive thoughts highlight them with yellow. For thoughts that are pissy or annoyed or in any way negative (I would put the above quote in this category), hit them with the black marker. Anything you really can't put into either category, use the third color. You need to be honest here. If you are trying to judge a particular thought and can't decide if it is negative or not, think what your life would be like if that were the only thing you ever said.

#3: Step back and look at your colors. If you are "normal", meaning like most people, I'll bet at least 75% of your page is blackened out and you wish you had used a paint brush rather than a marker. The more yellow you have and the less black, horray for you, all the better. Do you see? Do you see where your mind goes? And since your thoughts, and particularly your emotion behind the thoughts, create what the Universe brings in front of your face, do you see why you are getting what you are getting? It's going to match. I know for sure that it is going to match. If it is not, then you are not being honest with yourself somehow, which actually magnifies the situation.

#4: Love the result and love yourself for the result you found. Love the pages full of black. You have done that!! You have experienced that and you have put the black down on paper. Otherwise you would never be in the place you are now to recognize the black and to say to yourself, "Now, I know what I didn't know. And I choose yellow-highlighter-thoughts".

I warned you. It's work. But boy is it necessary work. You can't figure out where you want to go if you don't know where you are. And you are the only one who can do this. And don't forget #4, to love your black results and to love yourself. I do.

PROCLAMATION

I read the following proclamation in Path of Empowerment (Makawao: Inner Ocean Publishing, Inc., 2004) pp. 274-275 by Barbara Marciniak. It is one of the most powerful uses of Intentional Creation I have ever found. I recommend everyone put this on your bathroom mirror and read it - preferably aloud - every morning. Wonderful!!

PROCLAMATION

I am a creator. I am here to create a safe and bountiful life. By vibration and frequency, I choose to be healthy, productive, and wise. I have great gratitude for my abilities to recognize that thoughts produce frequencies, and I can create a frequency that supports the safe, probable world I live in by directing my energy toward what I want to experience. I walk through life with clear, conscious intent to weave my energy, like a gossamer thread in a large and beautiful tapestry, throughout the world I encounter. I fully realize that a multitude of probabilities and belief systems exist side by side with mine. And in mine I am safe. In mine I am guided. In mine I love and trust my body. In mine I know my cells are precognitive and that I am a co-creator of the multiverse. I know I am a valuable being. I know that I will receive the impulses, the signs and signals and guidance that I require to always be in the right place at the right time, for my highest good and that of all those around me. All this I know, and for this I am most grateful.

Discernment, Part II

Last post I rambled at length about the importance of Discernment in the Law of Attraction in particular and in life in general. It is a wonderfully, easy way to live your life once you are accustomed to living this way, but getting there can be a trick.

Discernment is listening to your gut and making decisions from there and not from your mind. The last post goes into why you want to do this. So how to begin... You must quiet your mind and have it be your servant and not your master. Really. You MUST quiet your mind. The only successful way I know is to practice. Slowly in baby steps and not beating yourself up for the constant failures you certainly will encounter.

The very first thing I would do is to shut off the radio in the car. Force yourself to have quiet time. When you do this, the mind will really take over, so it is an opportunity to watch yourself and see what it is that you really think about. Usually that is unhappiness about the past or worrying about the future. You know both are wrong, don't you? I'll go into why if anyone asks. But whether it is past or future, good or bad, the mind is in control, making so much noise you can't hear anything else. That is the point of discernment, though: getting silent so you can hear the prompting, suggestions, evaluation from your soul/angels/guides/God.

See where your mind goes and make the decision to stop it. That will last for maybe 2 seconds, then make the decision, again, to stop it. This will last for 3 seconds, then 4, then 6, then10... What else are you doing while you are driving anyway? In fact, a good practice is to actively concentrate on your driving. Yes, you are using your mind, but you are using it as it should be used - as a servant for what YOU want. At these times, you are in the present. You are actively in the NOW. It doesn't matter what it is you are doing, but your are actively in the moment.

It helps if you can stop and meditate sometime, doing effectively the same thing. Many experts say consciously to watch your breathing during meditation. I agree. It does help to quiet the mind, which is the first purpose of meditating anyway. You can't listen if you can't shut up. Now, it can take a long time to get very good at this, but with steady work, you can get better and better, and, believe me, your life will improve dramatically as well - because your mind will not be putting out all that negative energy that attracts other negative energy that ultimately pops the proverbial zit in your experience. I'm sure there are other wonderful ways to build your discernment, but this is the methold I have used for the past 5 years or so. At this point, I would guess that I am in the moment about 60% of my time and feel pretty good about that. Sometimes, I will intentionally think about the future to aid in some active creation of Law of Attraction, but I try the very best to stay out of the past, whether good or bad. Once I catch myself thinking about the past, my intention is to actively go into the present and I am getting better and better at recognizing this and doing it.

This discussion is a bit Pollyannaish, because I do not address very difficult issues such as a constant physical pain, or relationship turmoil that can be very, very in the moment. Those are much harder to deal with. My advice here is to very quickly pick up a copy of "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. His current book, "A New Earth", is a big Oprah study right now, but go to "Power of Now" first. I don't give this recommendation in passing. This is a big deal. This is a big, important book!!! It has singlehandedly changed more lives of people I personally know than any other book. We all talk about moving books that we have read and loved, but this one is the "Bach" of the bunch. Not an easy read, but nothing better. Speaking of nothing better.... There is nothing better than you! You are so amazingly powerful, creative, and resourceful. You truly are the envy of the Universe. Millions would trade you for your life just exactly as you are right now. You are magnificent!! and I love you!

Discernment

What's the connection between discernment and the Law of Attraction? The LoA affects absolutely everything we experience and discernment is the very best way for you to interpret and understand what is happening. Then discernment is the best way to decide what you want to experience, actively rather than reactively.

So what is discernment? My definition is "thinking through your gut". For me it is a knowing I get that really does come from the center of my body. Something will ring to me, giving a calmness and peace that I simply "feel" is true. Let me tell you, this is a fantastic way to live. If I let my mind get involved with a question, I can go through so much hand wringing and analysis; and then I'm still not certain if a decision is the best one or not.

I'm certain we all are born with good discernment skills, but they sure are trained out of us in a hurry. It is very important for us all to remember just how we got ourselves into this fix (since it is so hard to drop the addiction of thinking). When we are small children, we are simply computers downloading information with no analysis skills. That is, up to the ages of 5 or 6 (I don't remember exactly) all we do is accept what we see and are told. So if your father kiddingly calls you fatty or dummy or ugly, that is accepted as reality. Children don't understand joking or sarcasm, and those thoughts become the basis for who we are. Great example: I have always known the power of names, so when our daughters were small, my wife and I never said anything to them that wasn't positive. Occasionally, Sara, my older, would say "I'm so dumb" obviously learned at school. I would always immediately say, "No, you're not! You are very smart. You should never say you are dumb!" I was reminiscing once with her and recounted those incidents and she replied, "Oh! So that is why I always freak out when someone calls themself stupid!" See? There is a small monster I created, totally inadvertently. So think of all the other inadvertent things people say and do in front of their children that get logged into the psyche. OK, then add teachers, religion, peers, clubs, television, movies...... well, you get the picture. No wonder we are all screwed up from everyone telling us what they want us to be and do and think. Not because it is best for us, but it keeps us under control and they can feel better about being under control themselves for their whole lives. Sigh, I'm beginning to rant...

So discernment is the answer. Don't listen to your mind, because it wants to f*#% with you and stay in control. I know, that is easier said than done, but it is true. Stop and be quiet right now for a second with me. Slowing count to ten, thinking only about the counting itself. Then, pause again and mentally ask your body -not your mind - what I am saying. Is this true? Have I been controlled in my thinking all my life? Feel your answer. That, My Love, is discernment. More on the topic and methods for improving your skills later. But regardless of what you have always been told, you are Love incarnate. You are Joy. and you are Peace. I truly love you.

I Can't Top This

I never have a problem repeating something I hear that is valuable (or funny), but I will always try to give credit to whomever I stole from. Following is the daily inspirational quote from the Abraham-Hicks web site. Their link is below on the left. Also, please look at my prior blog post titled Bibliography. Their books have been some of the very best at the subject of Law of Attraction. I would like to consider myself a disciple. Anyway, I can't top today's quote:

We are all Vibrational Beings. You're like a receiving mechanism that when you set your tuner to the station, you're going to hear what's playing. Whatever you are focused upon is the way you set your tuner, and when you focus there for as little as 17 seconds, you activate that vibration within you. Once you activate a vibration within you, Law of Attraction begins responding to that vibration, and you're off and running -- whether it's something wanted or unwanted

Do You Think This Is All Bull... ?

It is highly probable that many people reading this blog with think that what I am talking about is not possible - just too far fetched. Yet these same people say yes when I ask them: "Have you ever known anyone who says they are lucky and truly are lucky? Or anyone who is always talking about sickness and are always getting sick from something? Everyone I talk to says yes to this. Everyone knows people like this, but yet think "Well, this happens in a small degree to some people, but the concept is false.

How can that be? How can something just be a little true? Look, if it is true, it's true. If it is false, it is false. So if you think the Law of Attraction is false, fine. I'm glad you have a theory of life that works for you. (I'm assuming it is working for you). We'll talk about that another time. But if you say it is just a little true for someone who thinks they are lucky, but nothing bigger than that; then I question your logic. We have been surrounded forever of stories of people who have wanted something badly and it came true for them. A miracle cancer cure, a business that succeeds, a soul mate that appears. These all do happen; and it is not blind luck and it is not a random, fickle act of God. It does not just happen to a few special people - or at least it doesn't have to. We all can do this. We just need to learn how to do it rather than simply stumbling onto a success here and there. We can consciously create everything in life the way we want it; not just a few pieces of life.

Quite honestly, I have been pretty successful at it for some time now, and I tell you, this is the best way to live. I don't get cut off in traffic. I can always find a good parking spot when I need one. My bank balance always has enough money to pay my bills when I need to or buy something when I want. I'm the healthiest I have ever been and I'm getting younger every day. All the people around me are nice and friendly and I never run into crabby people. There is no reason everyone's life can't be just the way they want it. You just have to actively create the life you want rather than defaulting to reacting to whatever crosses your path. Remember, if you live reactively to what happens around you, then the Universe will give you randomness to experience. Well, that must be exciting, and I'm sure some people thrive on that, but not for me, thank you.

The Law of Attraction is indeed a law of the Universe, and my choice is to use it in my favor rather than the default option. Much nicer. And a part of that intentional use in my favor is to send you Love, which I do now and always. Love, peace, blessings, and joy; but most of all Love!

Bibliography

I haven't developed my philosophy and way of life regarding the Law of Attraction alone. Not by a long shot! Most things begin by reading something that trips a little switch in the brain that says "look into this deeper." It is important not to disregard those hits, particularly if you get several of them in a short period. Those hits began my reading and then studying and then personal experience to see if the idea works. Following are the books that were most instrumental in my learning and growth:

Abraham-Hicks works. Specifically, there is a series of 4 books: Ask and It is Given, 2004; The Law of Attraction, 2006; The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent, 2006; and The Astonishing Power of Emotions, 2007. These are, by far, the most important works giving practical information about all aspects of the LoA and how to make your life much more joyous and complete. ( I won't say "successful" - that is for you to decide). Officially written by Esther and Jerry Hicks, they were the original basis for the movie and subsequent book, "The Secret". Their books are the foundation of my thinking and, often, the words I use. I have simply added my experience which totally corroborates their work.

Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting, 2000 by Lynn Grabhorn. A great, easy style of writing where she shares her personal experiences slowly learning the how the LoA works. With a great deal of humor she tells about both her successes and failures in figuring out exactly how all this works.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. We have all heard of this classic from the 1950's. His points then are just the same as today. It is just that the world is more ready now. In fact, in the preface of ...Emotions, Jerry Hicks recounts his experience with Hill's book and discovery that the most important parts of Hill's book were edited out! Those references to "vibration" of a desire which must match the vibration of it's manifestation. Very key point which is stressed the the Abraham-Hicks works. I mention Hill's book not because of its current value (read Hicks instead), but to show that this is not just some new-age-affirmation-woo-woo concept.

It Works by RHJ. A strange little 28 page brochure that I stumbled across. First published----- get this----- in 1926! It is amazing and said everything that we are saying now. 1926!!! Published by DeVorss & Company you can order one for $3 (or 100 for $180) at www.devorss.com. I asked Barnes & Nobles and they got it for me without shipping.

There are many, many more books that have helped shape my spiritual beliefs and which dovetail very nicely with Law of Attraction, but which do not specfically deal with this subject alone. I'll cover those books another time. Meanwhile, pick up one of the Hicks books. It will ring to you like nothing else. Then, there is no knowing how much love, joy, and abundance (financial, health, and relationship) that you can experience.

Blessings, Joy, Prosperity, but most of all Love,

When Doesn't the Law of Attraction Work?

In my experience, I have found that there are one (or more) of three reasons when the Law of Attraction doesn't work.

First, and by far the most common, is that we effectively and most often unknowingly change our mind. If you are looking for a relationship in your life, you can readily picture the person you are looking for with exactly the right traits, interests, etc. Then, you hold that picture in your mind. You have the active daydream of sharing with that person in a wonderful, loving relationship. You have done it all perfectly. You are sending out the right energy and it is accumulating for you. But then in a weak moment, you might think "Oh, he/she won't come. I'm too____ (ugly, old, short, dumb, whatever). Well, there you go...... The Universe loves you so very much it WILL give you want you want, and what you want must be what you are thinking about. So if you are thinking that someone won't come because you're dumb, then very lovingly the Universe will keep them away and at the same time put you in a situation where you can experience being dumb. You may not think so, but that is the most wonderful, loving thing you can receive! You have gotten what you are thinking about. Another example: Simply thinking that you want someone because you are lonely will keep them away. Because your primary thought and where you are spending your energy is dealing with "lonely". So that georgeous, wonderful, precious Universe will lovingly give you what you are focusing on -lonliness.

The second reason the LoA might not work is because you have some special life purpose that is contrary to what you are wanting to manifest. It may be a lifetime purpose that you are to do or experience or possibly karmic repercussions that you want to clear up this time around. It may sound morbid or wierd, but you could have given yourself the experience of cancer for any myriad of reasons (compassion for others, need to receive nurturing from others, experience the current treatments for cancer, or, a biggie, be there as a support for someone else suffering the same way). Under these circumstances, all of the perfect steps you perform using the Law of Attraction to eliminate the disease won't work. Because on a soul level you did indeed want to experience what you are currently experiencing.

The third reason for the LoA not working, is the concept of Divine Timing. You may be doing everything right and the Universe wants to help and bring it to you, but for some reason it just doesn't seem to be happening. In this situation, Creator knows. I want to say this just that bluntly. Creator knows. But Creator also knows what is the very best not only for just you but for all of humankind. Imagine the Universe beautiful and just and perfect. Then be sure of one thing: Creator has imagined it quite a bit better than you have. Your manifestation will come - at the best time possible.

So.......... You want to win the Lottery and it isn't happening. Do you think deep down that the odds are too great to win or that you "hope" to win (which is the same as not winning)? Has your soul chosen to experience a life without noteriety and/or luxury? Or maybe, it will indeed be yours, but at just the right time when you can use that lottery to do the very best you can for all of the world. Please remember, though, that all of these reasons for not winning are perfect and flawless. The world is yours to create for you and you are doing exactly that. Congratulations on a job wonderfully well done!

Love and peace to you always,

Why Does the Law of Attraction Work

The big question everyone asks is "What is the purpose of life?". How you answer this question really determines how successful you can be in using the Law of Attraction. My belief is that the reason I am here is simply to experience life. Or to take that a little deeper, to decide who I am and wish to be (which is based on my experiences). My belief also says that the Universe (Creator, God or any other descriptor you wish) is wonderfully benevolent, creative, and powerful, wishing the very best for us.

So if the Universe wants the best for us, that means the Universe wants us to have what we want. You cannot go into a judgmental choice here, because who makes the judgment? Our religions have always kept us under control by warning us of God's Judgment. But have you noticed how that Judgment seems to change all the time? At one time it was God's choice and proper to burn witches in New England or not eat fish on Friday. You get my point. So to repeat, the Universe wishes for us to have what we want to experience. That is the reason we are here. What would be the very best way to accomplish that? The most beautiful, the most beneficent, the most loving way? To give us what we are passionate about!!! So.......... What we think about is what we want to experience. Add emotion to that and it builds the vibrational energy I discussed in the last post. When that energy is sufficient, it manifests giving us what we want. Isn't that gorgeous? How wonderfully creative the Universe is! We are here to experience; we think of something; the Universe delivers. That is why the Law of Attraction is in place and why it works. As the cliche says, watch what you ask for, because.....

Love, Peace, and Untold Blessings to you.

How does the Law of Attraction Work? Energy!

Everything in the Universe is energy. Everything. That includes all people, animals, trees, rocks - everything. Anything we consider "solid", such as the rock mentioned above, is simply energy that is compacted. If you take a microscope and look smaller and smaller, ultimately, you will find that even a rock moves with an energetic wavelength.

Now, building on that thought, all energy is neutral. It is not good or bad, hot or cold, left or right. But energy does attract like energy. (Stay with me now.) Our thoughts take neutral energy and give it a vibrational charge based upon what that thought is. The more attention we give to that thought, the greater the size. Additionally, that vibration (or energy) will attract like vibration making it even larger. Ultimately, that vibration will reach a level where that thought becomes real. Phrased another way, what you give your attention to will come into your reality. This is the Law of Attraction.

If you want a new pair of shoes, think and dream about the perfect pair, when enough energy has accumulated, the shoes will come into your life. Now, don't get to excited - or too skeptical - because there are many factors to be considered. The money to pay for the shoes might not be there if you didn't consider that in your thoughts. Also, if you have thoughts that say "Oh, this won't really happen" or "I'm not worthy or don't deserve another pair of shoes", then that thought creates a vibration of "No Shoes". So what shows up - shoes or no shoes - depends on where you spent the most energy. That is what happens to most of us. We ask for something from the Universe, but then effectively change our minds by having a conflicting thought. The solution? Don't have the conflicting thought. Yes, I agree; easier said than done. But you can get there! Honest! You can. The Law of Attraction works. Always. You can count on it. But those steps are for another day. Love to you, always.

Overview of the Law of Attraction

You are the only one who creates your reality. That is it in very blunt and appearingly cruel words. But if you know this and understand how it works, you can changes those things in your life that aren't what you prefer. Your job, your health, your relationships, your money --- all of it. You can't do it instantly! You can't be going down the interstate at 75 mph and instantly turn around going 75. But the metaphor is a good one. You can slow down the less desirable "issues" you have and, with time and energy, turn it around to what you want. And if what you want is for the better good of all humanity and not to anyone else's detriment, then you can soar higher and faster than you ever imagined.

I'll be talking about all of this. How we got into the sorry-ass state we're in and why. Practical ways to get out. How we sabotage ourselves. And how we overcome all of it. How to create the life and, yes, the world you want. It is definitely doable. And along the way......... I never forget my personal motto:

If it's not going to be fun, I'm not going to do it!

Love, always,

The Old Monk

Introduction

Welcome! My purpose for this Blog is to share my experiences, readings, and philosophies about Spirituality in general and the Law of Attraction in particular. I am not a professional seminar trainer/host or personal coach. I haven't written any best-sellers.

But I do know life and I know people - how we think and how we behave. I've learned the hard way and the easy way, and I've figured out that the easy way is (surprise, surprise) easier. I have no financial or power motive. I just love people, would prefer to spend my time laughing and talking with people, and think that if we could all understand just how the Laws of the Universe work, we will see exactly how joyous and free our lives can be.

I've said nothing yet, but give me a chance. Here we go and I love every minute of it.
